The 1990 Giro With Frankie Andreu Thursday, May 08, 2008 9:07:08 PM PT
Ahead of this year's race, Andreu took PEZ on a behind the scenes look at the 1990 edition with a very fresh young 7-Eleven team hoping to continue Andy Hampsten's legacy. It was not to be, but there were some very memorable events nonetheless. More....

When The Pez gave me the call to review some kit, he knew that the mention of tartan would get this proud Scotsman onboard! It’s my first time to the south of Italia and the Giro grande partenza – and I’ve landed in Palermo in one piece, but without my luggage or bike… But the sun is shining, this place is beautiful, and as I search for the perfect negroni, I hope to learn a lot more about this unique part of the world – let’s get started! Giro'08: La Corsa Up Close! Tuesday, May 06, 2008 12:22:33 PM PT
A few months have passed and since the always innovative Giro organizers released the route for the 2008 edition of my favorite Grand Tour (there, I said it) - and once again it was evident WHY it's arguably one of the most entertaining races of the year - rarely a dull stage, big mountains, and do mine eyes deceive me? Lots of time trials. Indeed. Read on as PEZ peers a bit closer at the coming travails - only days away now. More....
Top Rides: PEZ Vs. La Finestre Friday, May 02, 2008 9:32:41 AM PT
My favorite race of the year starts next week, and come Monday I'm on a plane to Palermo to take in the opening week of this year's Giro d'Italia. I'll be riding on the corsa, eating and drinking like it's my last meal, and sharing my vita italiana right here each day. One of my best memories was my ride over the epic - an unpaved Colle della Finestre in 2005 - here's a look back. More....
Pantani's Last Stand Wednesday, April 30, 2008 6:50:42 PM PT
Say what you like about Marco Pantani, he was a fantastic bike rider when the road went uphill, he was a true 'great' and still leaves a lasting impression on our sport and all those that witnessed his exploits. One such occasion that I was privileged to witness 'alla strada' as they say in Italy, was prophetically the last time Pantani climbed a mountain in his beloved Giro and sadly the last time anyone saw a true "acceleration" from il Pirata. More....
Giro'08: La Corsa Up Close! Tuesday, December 04, 2007 6:21:29 PM PT
A few days have passed since the always innovative Giro organizers released the route for the 2008 edition of my favorite Grand Tour (there, I said it) - and once again it was evident WHY it's arguably one of the most entertaining races of the year - rarely a dull stage, big mountains, and do mine eyes deceive me? Short of riding without my helmet or actually breaking decency laws, nothing makes me feel more naked on the bike than not having my bike computer along for the ride. The Polar CS200cad is an excellent balance between comprehensive functionality with download capability on one hand, and sleek styling and ease of installation and use on the other hand. More....

RetroFile: Roubaix Meets Dual Suspension Tuesday, April 08, 2008 10:23:56 AM PT
In 1994, an event took place that stunned the peloton, press and fans alike. If you were in Compiegne, France for the start of Paris Roubaix, you could barely get through the crowd of onlookers moshing around the GB-MG team truck to see the team Bianchi with dual suspension... More....
Toolbox: Building Self-Confidence Tuesday, May 06, 2008 6:29:05 AM PT
If Yogi Berra were a cyclist, here’s what he’d say: cycling is 90% mental, and the other half is physical. Yet with enough self-confidence, our minds tend to stay out of the way, and we have the freedom to perform to our potential. The mentally fit cyclist knows how to assess, maintain, and build self-confidence to improve fun and performance on the bike. More....
ToolBox: Indoor Training Efficiencies Tuesday, April 22, 2008 5:51:55 AM PT
I often hear from cyclists who would like to race but “just don’t have enough time to train.” Even if you never plan to race, you can still see significant improvements in your riding with a limited time budget. More....
Top Rides: Brasstown Bald Friday, April 25, 2008 8:32:33 AM PT
In 2006 I had the good fortune/ misfortune to ride the Tour de Georgia Stage 5 route from Helen to Brasstown Bald - the highest point in Georgia. I’d heard this climb was tough, but really had no idea what I was getting into. When this sucker pitches to 20%, the ol’ pain-o-meter goes off the scale… More....
PEZ Talk: Sean Kelly On La Doyenne Saturday, April 26, 2008 9:21:43 AM PT
His stats for Liege read like this: 1979, 20th: 1981, 11th: 1982, 10th: 1984, 1st: 1985, 4th: 1986, 12th: 1987, 20th; 1988, 5th: 1989, 1st – good enough to tell us a little about La Doyenne? Yeah, we thought so too: PEZ talked to Sean Kelly about the oldest, and many would say the hardest of the ‘monuments’. More....
It’s been some time since our last Homeboy Diary and the illuminating glimpses into the lives of young riders living the dream of chasing a pro contract. Sim Green has been racing with a Bouygues Telecom feeder team in France for a couple years, and has unselfishly agreed to let us in on his racing life … More....
